The curved inset in the front is a thoughtful accommodation of the female anatomy when one needs to bathe less easily reached parts when seated under a shower. However I found the seat hard on my bottom and had to use a towel to cushion it. All in all, a safe and useful aid to those who are unable to stand up under the shower.
